Do you have a passion for all things snow orientated? Is skiing and boarding how you love to spend your free time? Why not work for the best resort in Australia? Hotham is looking for exciting, innovative, dynamic individuals to join our team working at the top of the Victorian Alps.
Hotham is Victoria’s highest ski resort. We are the only resort in Australia where our alpine village is situated on the top of the mountain. Spectacular views await you along with awesome terrain and amazing alpine surrounds.
At Hotham we pride ourselves on delivering the most memorable experiences for our guests. Our staff is the most integral aspect of that process. Whilst previous experience is desirable it is not essential for many positions. Join our team, make friends and enjoy all that the great Alpine snowfields have to offer. If Hotham sounds like the place for you, please apply online now!
Please note you can apply for up to 3 positions in total. For the Snowsports School, we will be running our Skills Clinic in mid June and all applications will be notified of the program.
Positions on offer are casual positions. Most roles will offer approximately 38 hours per week but given that work is frequently weather dependant there is no guarantee in the number of hours. Pay rates are determined by your position as well as experience and are set out in our Enterprise Agreement. Most, but not all, first year entry level positions start at $21.37 per hour. This rate will increase to $22.01 per hour at the beginning of July.
Hotham does have staff accommodation available both on mountain at Hotham and in Dinner Plain. (Dinner Plain is a village located approximately 12kms down the road from Hotham.) Please note whilst we make every attempt to house most of our staff we are not able to offer accommodation to all employees. We encourage everyone to try and source their own accommodation and to compare prices.
At Hotham we have two main staff housing buildings, Spiral Stairs and Blue Ribbon. These are share rooms with either 2 or 4 people to a room. Each dorm room has its own bathroom. Employees living in Spirals Stairs and Blue Ribbon are on a meal plan which includes 7 x breakfasts and 6 x dinners every week. There are communal TV and Games rooms at both venues. We provide limited internet facilities so we recommend staff consider purchasing their own pre-paid Wi-Fi service prior to arriving for the winter season. Whilst most providers are available on mountain Telstra coverage works very well.
The company also rents houses and lodges in Dinner Plain to accommodate our staff.
Employees living in our staff accommodation will be required to pay a bond. As a convenience for our employees any meal, bond or accommodation expenses as a result of living in staff accommodation will be deducted from weekly wages.
All staff will be required to wear a uniform. Uniforms are appropriate to the conditions and provide protection against the elements where applicable. Outdoor jackets, pants and boots will be issued to outdoor staff “on loan” for the winter. These items require the payment of a bond. Other items such as shirts and vests will become the property of the employees and as such need to be purchased. As a convenience for our staff any uniform purchases and bonds will be deducted from weekly wages.
Any employee who is available to work 38 hours per week will be eligible for a free season pass so you can ski or ride as much as you can! As a staff member you are also entitled to unlimited free group lessons with the Snowsports Department. Staff are also eligible for discounts at our retail and rental outlets. (We have some employee only deals on skiing or boarding equipment.) Return staff are entitled to loyalty vouchers which provides for free one day lift passes. Mount Hotham is owned by Merlin Entertainments which is the world’s second largest entertainment company. As an employee of Mount Hotham Skiing Company you’ll receive Merlin Magic Passes to enjoy free entry into such places as Madame Tussauds, Legoland and Sea World Aquariums around the world.
